Top 10 Best TV Workplaces

We all watch TV shows, and which is the “best” is a matter of opinion. With that being said, here are the top 10 best TV workplaces of all time. Feel free to check out other lists throughout Thought for Your Penny.

10. Sacred Heart Teaching Hospital “Scrubs”

Location: San DiFrangeles, California
Aired: 2001-2010, NBC & ABC

If you’re going to work at a hospital, there are few better places than Sacred Heart Teaching Hospital, a private hospital in the city of San DiFrangeles. The staff is dedicated to their patients, and there are always life lessons to be learned. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and there’s even an underground canal system below to explore.

9. NBC “30 Rock”

Location: New York City, New York
Aired: 2006-2013, NBC

30 Rockefeller Plaza is one of the most iconic buildings in television, housing “Saturday Night Live” and various other NBC shows. In charge is Jack Donaghy, a suave business exec who’s only ever interested in a sketch show called “TGS.” Even that show has a cast and crew that runs wild, so if you work for any other show on the network, you’re pretty much free to do whatever you want.

8. Pawnee City Hall “Parks and Recreation”

Location: Pawnee, Indiana
Aired: 2009-2015, NBC

Pawnee City Hall houses (among others) the Sewage, Fire, and Parks and Recreation Departments of the small Indiana town. There’s an executive dining room, Pioneer Hall (which houses murals of the town’s history), and every conceivable office staple. While most municipal buildings are drab and dull, Pawnee City Hall is often lively and filled with excitement, thanks to Leslie Knope in Parks and Rec.

7. Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce “Mad Men”

Location: Manhattan, New York
Aired: 2007-2015

If you’re going to work for an advertising agency, you want to be a part of a good one. Sterling Cooper Draper Price is always negotiating for major corporate contracts from a beautiful office with a 360-degree views of New York City. You can smoke indoors, drink during working hours, and sexual harassment is just part of the fun of working there.

6. Paddy’s Pub “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia”

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Aired: 2005-Present, FX/FXX

Paddy’s Pub is known by bar critics as “The Worst Bar in Philadelphia,” but that’s only if you’re looking for something traditional. The owners are rarely there, and when they are, they’re barely paying attention. This means you can get a lot of free alcohol, and it’s only busy one or two nights a year, so you won’t have to fight off crowds to do it.

5. Veridian Dynamics “Better Off Ted”

Location: Worldwide
Aired: 2009-2010, ABC

While Veridian Dynamics is an evil corporation, it’s a much more fun place to work than Evil Corp of “Mr. Robot.” That’s mostly due to Ted Crisp, the head of research and development. His lab scientists, Dr. Myman and Dr. Hewitt, are constantly working on zany and outrageous projects in a laboratory that would make even Bruce Wayne envious.

4. Greendale Community College “Community”

Location: Greendale County, Colorado
Aired: 2009-2015, NBC & Yahoo! Screen

Founded in 1974, Greendale isn’t a very prestigious college. Its most notable alumni is Luis Guzman, and its mascot is a very poorly executed “human being.” However, despite having little money nor academic prowess, the school offers cheap classes ($64 per credit) and the staff always seems to enjoy working there, even when they’re not being paid.

3. Tom Nevers Field “Wings”

Location: Nantucket, Massachusetts
Aired: 1990-1997, NBC

Nantucket is a small island with a small airport filled with small airlines, Sandpiper and Aeromass. There’s also a local-owned diner inside the airport where you can grab a bite to eat. In today’s world of post-9/11 airport security, Tom Nevers Field is a throwback to a simpler time. The workers are typically friendly (even Roy), and you’ll have a great conversation while waiting for your flight.

2. Buy More “Chuck”

Location: Burbank, California
Aired: 2007-2012, NBC

Buy More is very similar to Best Buy in many ways (just replace the blue with green). Like Best Buy, it doesn’t take any knowledge of the consumer tech you’re selling to get a job there. The employees are constantly partying, pranking each other, and slacking off. What sets it apart from Best Buy, however, is the secret joint-operations government base, called Castle, located underneath the Burbank location.

1. TelAmeriCorp “Workaholics”

Location: Rancho Cucamonga, California
Aired: 2011-2017, Comedy Central

TelAmeriCorp is a telemarketing company with multiple locations. Blake, Anders, and Adam work at the Rancho Cucamonga location, where they play pranks, get stoned, and participate in other shenanigans. Although the work is boring and the boss is demeaning, the employees always manage to find ways to have fun.
